JOB SUMMARY Supervises the efficient and effective repair of freight handling equipment utilizing appropriate vendors. Maintains communications with other departments to determine repair priorities based on freight demand, and coordinates equipment movements and damages. Surveys damage, and completes monetary estimates and invoices.EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent.EXPERIENCE: 5 years shipping and manufactured reefer equipment maintenance & container maintenance or experience in a related field required with experience in welding, fabricating, electrical, refrigeration and mechanics. One to three years of supervisory and leadership experience required.LICENSE: Valid Canadian Driver’s LicenseTRAVEL: N/APHYSICAL: Semi-office environment. Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 8 hours per day. Mobility required to oversee repair activities and to perform inspection duties. Ability to frequently twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel and climb heights up to 15 feet; occasionally must lift and carry up to 100 lbs. Able to withstand occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManages Saint John stevedoring terminal operations or Labor ordering, vessel turnaround, performance and planning. Stevedore invoicing approval or reconciliation.Communicates with other departments to resolve problems or concerns related to equipment damages and maintenance.Ensures proper procedures are followed in Maintenance and Refrigeration and operations with reefer containers.Supervises the development of personnel through performance reviews or coaching, training classes work groups and on the job training.Monitors costing budget and ensure third party billing are performed; and manages expectations and balancing costs and service for maintenance and refrigeration and vessel operations.Researches ways to improve staff productivity and maximize longevity. Determines priorities and communicates to senior management. Compiles reports and ensures departmental labor utilization, productivity or materials management and equipment productivity.Ensures efficient equipment inventory levels available to meet requirements for repairs. Oversees inventory control of parts and materials and procurement management.Completes information of possible reefer claims and adheres to procedures to eliminate claims.Implements new procedures for company and departmental personnel regarding reefer department and equipment.Performs all other assigned duties.
