Reporting to the President of Foss Offshore Wind, the Director is responsible for developing new business opportunities for Foss Offshore Wind (FOW). This position will annually update the business development strategy as well as engage directly in the tactical development of business opportunities for FOW. The Director will promote a culture of safety and ethical business practice and promote the highest level of customer service while driving revenue results. The Director will work in concert with the President to lead the effort to acquire new customers, as well as develop necessary strategic partnerships related to the FOW business.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage key aspects of the go-to-market strategy for Foss Offshore Wind including regional expansion opportunities, named account management at the New Bedford terminal and oversight of our grant development vendor(s).
  • Works with President to foster success-oriented business development practices for FOW.
  • Foster an environment of positivity and collaboration within all aspects of the FOW business.
  • Identify areas of significant time or effort investment for potential business expansion as identified in the FOW business plan exercising continuous improvement principles to better take advantage of these opportunities.
  • Collaborate with finance personnel to prepare business development financial reporting for presentation to President.
  • Respond to RFPs, review MSAs and other contractual agreements, oversee contract negotiations, and work on team to write proposals and SOWs, including the preparation of project budgets.
  • Maintain relationships with clients and ensure customer satisfaction and project success.
  • Participate in routine business development calls with leadership, general managers, and commercial team.
  • Interface with customers, regulatory bodies, port officials, federal, state, and local inspectors, and others to ensure proper representation of FOW.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working in Offshore Wind and Maritime Transportation, or equivalent experience working with developers, regulators, and project stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines, contract/procurement, and market sectors.
  • Strong business acumen. Understanding of accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes to effectively manage the Company budget.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills are required.
  • Knowledge of the US offshore wind market including current and future market potential, competitor penetration and capabilities, and other external factors, e.g., political, social, and economic.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communicative skills, including presentation development and delivery.
  • Ability to deviate from established routines on short notice and to recognize the level of importance of new initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage and deliver high quality performance on multiple, simultaneous strategic, value-added tasks and priorities.
  • Understanding of international/cultural diversity, personnel, and customer sensitivities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and all applicable enterprise business platforms.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time and occasional work beyond normal business hours based on Company demands and goals.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience and/or training; MBA preferred. This position also requires extensive management, offshore wind industry experience in business development, contract negotiations, and senior level customer contact experience.
