Job Summary
We are seeking a hard-working and experienced Merchandising Manager to become a key part of our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of the merchandising strategy, ensuring product availability, and enhancing the customer shopping experience at Minit Stop Convenience Stores.
This role is based on Maui and requires travel to Minit Stop Stores on Maui and Big Island. Strong technical skills and proficiency with software applications are essential for making data-driven decisions to maximize sales and profitability. What You Will Do
- Make informed decisions on Minit Stop’s merchandise offerings using both internal and external data.
- Build store layouts and create schematics using relevant software, such as Blue Yonder.
- Analyze and summarize sales data to find opportunities and vulnerabilities as it relates to store merchandise.
- Monitor price book activity to ensure accurate pricing and scheduling across all Minit Stop Convenience Stores.
- Develop and maintain vendor playbooks including vendor standard operating procedures (SOP) and ensure vendor compliance.
- Manage product procurement processes and develop unified and store-specific sales and merchandising plans to increase profit while addressing the unique needs of each store.
- Negotiate pricing and terms to support the company’s financial goals and secure favorable outcomes.
- Manage multiple projects to ensure projects are executed and meets deadlines. These projects include store layouts, buying and pricing related, vendor and internal promotional programs, etc.
- Stay informed on the latest sales trends and data history, analyze the competitive market, and adjust merchandising strategies accordingly.
- Conduct merchandise and sales analysis for forecasting purposes and provide thorough explanations of data for monthly financial review and annual budgeting processes.
- Seek potential vendors and build strong relationships with current vendors, ensuring proper supply, operational execution, timely invoicing, competitive pricing and maximum profits.
- Develop in-store promotions and oversee the rewards program to boost sales and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Work with the Food Service Manager in the strategy, direction, and sourcing development for new food components, including implementation and merchandising.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Specialist on advertising, forecasting, and development of monthly promotional material to boost product movement, recognition, and sales volume.
- Assist in the planning and execution of promotional and charity-driven efforts, including public, non-profit, and community events.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Candidates must meet the legal requirements for obtaining credentials to sell liquor and tobacco products in the state of Hawaii.
- Seeking candidates with an Associate’s degree or higher and at least two years of experience in Merchandising, Procurement, Buying, or Marketing is preferred.
- Acquire a Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance and Safe Food Handler’s Certification upon hire, and a Class C Underground Storage Tank (UST) Certification and Liquor Cards for any county where Minit Stop operates within 60 days of hire.
- Proficient in retail procurement, product placement, and food service, with a professional understanding of financial management to optimize company profitability amid market fluctuations.
- Strong technical skills in data analytics and inventory management systems with the ability to quickly learn new software programs. Experience with schematic software (e.g., Blue Yonder) and PDI Technologies is a plus.
- Competent with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Exhibits strong leadership, communicates effectively and excels both independently and in team settings.
- Highly organized multitasker with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities of a structured and fast paced work environment so that deadlines are met.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle for business-related errands. We offer mileage reimbursement and cover other travel-related expenses to ensure you are compensated for your efforts.
