As a Lead Aviation Maintenance Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our aircraft. You will provide expert oversight of maintenance activities, optimize team performance, and uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance. Position Summary: 

As a Lead Aviation Maintenance Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our aircraft. You will provide expert oversight of maintenance activities, optimize team performance, and uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance. Your leadership will foster a positive and productive work environment, driving team development and contributing to the overall success of Northern Air Cargo. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

· Operational Leadership:

o Direct and optimize staff utilization to ensure efficient and high-quality maintenance operations, adhering to all company policies and procedures. 

o Maintain meticulous check turnover and line turnover logs, providing comprehensive reports on completed work, outstanding items, and critical instructions. 

o Coordinate and supervise deicing/anti-icing procedures and ground crew activities, ensuring safety and efficiency. 

· Team Development and Mentorship: 

o Provide comprehensive on-the-job training (OJT) to Junior Technicians and Technician Helpers, meticulously monitoring their progress towards A&P certification. 

o Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance. 

· Safety and Compliance: 

o Proactively identify and report hazards within company operations and systems through established reporting mechanisms. 

o Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations and company standards. 

· Maintenance Control and Problem Resolution: 

o Act as the primary maintenance control point in the absence of the Maintenance Controller. 

o Serve as the first point of contact for labor dispute resolution and initiate disciplinary actions when necessary. 

· Reliability and Professionalism: 

o Maintain consistent and punctual attendance. 

o Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

 

· Technical Expertise: 

o Possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) technician certificate. 

o Demonstrated proficiency in the repair and troubleshooting of company-maintained aircraft. 

o Minimum of 2 years of experience working on the specific aircraft types being supervised. 

o Qualified to run/taxi aircraft. 

· Leadership and Management: 

o Proven ability to supervise and manage personnel, optimizing productivity and fostering a positive team environment. 

o Strong coaching and mentoring skills. 

o Ability to resolve conflicts effectively. 

· Communication and Interpersonal Skills: 

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interpret technical documents and provide clear instructions. 

o Ability to effectively communicate with maintenance personnel and other stakeholders. 

o Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

· Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

o Comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations and industry best practices. 

o Ability to identify and mitigate safety hazards. 

· Operational Requirements: 

o Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. 

o Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and obtain TSA clearance. 

Work Environment: 

· Primarily works in maintenance hangars and outdoor airline ramp environments. 

· Potential exposure to adverse weather conditions (cold, heat, wet surfaces, icy conditions). 

· Work around stationary and moving aircraft and ground support equipment. 

· Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. 

· Potential to work in confined spaces. 

Physical Requirements: 

· Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. 

· Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and tools. 

· Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. 

· Ability to climb and stand on ladders for up to two hours. 

· Ability to see, speak, and hear.
