JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager of Compliance, Safety and Auditing is responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies by developing and implementing compliance programs, monitoring business operations for potential risks, following up on internal audits, and advising leadership on compliance matters to maintain ethical and legal integrity within the organization; essentially acting as a guardian of the company’s adherence to industry standards safety and legal requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for ensuring the Technical Operations team meets and follows the Safety Management System (SMS) of the company.
- Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team, ensuring all activities are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ensure all Technical Operations activities comply with FAA regulations, manufacturers’ service bulletins, and Company Operations Specifications for Company aircraft and components.
- Propose enhancements to maintenance, safety, training, and inspection procedures to improve Company policies and procedures within the Technical Operations organization.
- Identify and report operational or system hazards via the WBAT or departmental hazard reporting systems.
- Ensure company is in compliance with all audits and any findings and hazards are mitigated through the companies SMS utilizing WBAT.
- Report any airworthiness or safety issues identified and refer disagreements regarding inspection findings to the Director of Quality Control and/or Director of Maintenance.
- Develop processes for improvements related to compliance, training and safety within the Technical Operations department while communicating operational improvement opportunities with Director of Maintenance and Director of Quality Control.
- Work in close concert with Director of Maintenance, Director, Quality Control and Director of Safety for both Northern Air Cargo and Aloha Air Cargo.
- Manage team of Auditors to ensure the compliance of Northern Air Cargo to FAA, regulations, and company manuals.
- Ensure the legality of all technical records, training records and other related documents as directed by FAA regulatory requirements and corporate policy.
- Support training, planning, records, CASP and safety in all aspects as required to assist the Sr. Director, Quality Control to make operational decisions and guidance and to ensure all activities comply with all FAA regulations.
- Ensure Technical Operations system (TRAX) is audited and compliant.
- Responsible to hire, evaluate, disciple, and terminate if employees do not meet expectations.
- Foster strong working relationships with other departments, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Represent the maintenance department in meetings and provide technical expertise as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- FAA mechanic’s certificate with both airframe and powerplant ratings preferred.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Eight (8) years of aviation related experience with (5) years a leadership role on either military or transport category aircraft is preferred.
- A minimum of (2) years’ experience working with regulatory training records management for FAA, DOD or other similar agencies, preferably in a technical training environment is preferred.
- Must have valid passport from country of citizenship and be able to travel internationally without restriction.
- Must have valid driver’s license with clear driving record.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check and receive TSA clearance for access to restricted areas.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to input into or manipulation of spreadsheets, composing composition and reports, etc.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide variety of audiences including senior level managers, regulatory agencies, contractors, company-wide peers, subordinates, and others.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Most work is performed in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must frequently move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or tools.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms (full range of motion); climb or balance; and stoop, kneel; crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must have the ability to climb and stand on ladders for up to two hours.
- The employee will need to see, speak, and hear.
