ABOUT THE COMPANY:   

Northern Air Maintenance Services (NAMS) is an FAA certified 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Station headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. We are the sole maintenance provider for ConocoPhillips’ fleet of three DHC-8-400 (Q400) aircraft. In addition to maintenance services, NAMS handles ground operations, inventory control, and passenger screening for all flights between Anchorage, Kuparuk and Alpine. With over 70 dedicated employees, we also provide contract maintenance for one DHC-6-400 Twin Otter and two CASA 212-300 aircraft based in Alpine, AK.

SALARY:

  • The annual compensation for this role begins at $108,990.

BONUS INFORMATION  

  • There is a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a $7,500 retention bonus after 12 months of successful employment.

POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of aircraft maintenance operations. Reporting directly to the NAMS Aircraft Maintenance Manager, this position oversees daily maintenance activities, manages personnel, and ensures strict compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, proven leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of safety and quality. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Operational Leadership: Conduct comprehensive shift turnovers, addressing maintenance discrepancies, shop activities, and facility projects.
  • Implement and manage maintenance and inspection plans in collaboration with the Aircraft Maintenance Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Aircraft Maintenance Manager, Quality Control, and Customer Maintenance Representatives to ensure all maintenance activities meet regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and planning to the Lead Mechanic.
  • Maintenance Management: Initiate and manage requisitions for stock and materials, ensuring timely procurement for maintenance and inspections.
  • Monitor and audit all maintenance documentation (task cards, work orders, logbooks, TRAX), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee the proper handling, storage, and control of aircraft parts.
  • Review and implement Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins.
  • Ensure all work areas are safe, clean, and operational.
  • Personnel and Training Management: Maintain shift schedules, manage personnel assignments, and handle vacation, overtime, and attendance.
  • Coordinate with the NAMS Training Department to schedule and develop training programs.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Continuously monitor safety program compliance.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, customer programs, and company policies.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with established safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Aircraft Maintenance Manager.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

Education and or Experience  

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Airman Certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of practical aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of documented supervisory experience.

LANGUAGE, MATH, AND COMPUTER SKILLS: 

  • Proficient in English (written and verbal).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of TRAX (preferred).
  • Strong math and reasoning skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test, background check, and TSA security threat assessment.
  • Valid Passport or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
  • Ability to travel internationally on occasion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Heavy physical work, including lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 75% of the workday.
  • Ability to crawl, bend, and twist as required.
  • Good vision and hearing.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, fumes, heat, cold, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to use required PPE.
