ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Northern Air Maintenance Services (NAMS) is an FAA certified 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Station headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. We are the sole maintenance provider for ConocoPhillips’ fleet of three DHC-8-400 (Q400) aircraft. In addition to maintenance services, NAMS handles ground operations, inventory control, and passenger screening for all flights between Anchorage, Kuparuk and Alpine. With over 70 dedicated employees, we also provide contract maintenance for one DHC-6-300/400 Twin Otter and two CASA 212-300 aircraft based in Alpine, AK.

SALARY
The compensation for this position starts at $34.00 per hour. This position is eligible for applicable license, qualification premiums and position pay.
BONUS INFORMATION
There is a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a $7,500 retention bonus after 12 months of successful employment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The NAMS Alpine Mechanic performs maintenance on CASA, Twin Otter, and Q400 aircraft in Alpine, Alaska, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. This role requires expertise in troubleshooting, repair, and component replacement for these aircraft types, with direction provided by both ConocoPhillips and NAMS leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute Aircraft Maintenance: Perform CASA, Twin Otter, and DeHavilland Q400 aircraft maintenance in strict adherence to company, customer, and manufacturer manuals, including airworthiness release of Q400 aircraft (AWR).
- Conduct Line Maintenance and Inspections: Perform daily scheduled and unscheduled line maintenance, interval aircraft inspections, and related tasks on ConocoPhillips CASA or Twin Otter aircraft at Alpine, Alaska.
- Perform Turnaround Checks and Servicing: Execute daily through-flight turnaround checks, servicing, and dispatch procedures on ConocoPhillips Q400, CASA, and Twin Otter aircraft.
- Provide Emergency Enroute Maintenance: Perform and assist with emergency enroute maintenance on ConocoPhillips Aviation Alaska Q400, CASA, or Twin Otter aircraft at various Alaskan locations.
- Utilize Tools and Equipment Proficiently: Demonstrate proficiency in using tools, equipment, and inspection aids relevant to assigned tasks.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Comply with service bulletins, company/customer policies, and applicable FAA regulations.
- Adhere to Rotational Schedule: Maintain availability to work a 1 or 2 weeks on/off rotating schedule, 12 hours per day, 7 days per week, as required.
- Complete Annual Proficiency Training: Successfully complete annual proficiency training at the Anchorage, Alaska location.
- Manage Inventory and Maintenance: Perform parts, tools, and equipment inventories, cleaning, and repairs.
- Follow On-Site Direction: Execute other duties as assigned by the ConocoPhillips Lead mechanic on shift.
- Fulfill Supervisory Directives: Perform other duties as assigned by the NAMS Anchorage-based Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues and customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Adequate reasoning, math, and language skills at a high school level.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to interpret instructions in various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug test, 5-year background check, 10-year criminal history check, and security threat assessment.
- Valid Passport or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed in a shop, maintenance hangar or outdoor ramp setting.
- Exposure to hazardous materials, mechanical, electrical and heat.
- Exposure to exhaust fumes, as well as welding and grinding fumes.
- The employee is frequently required to work outside in all temperatures, including heat and cold for extended lengths of time.
- Must own all tools necessary to complete maintenance actions listed above.
- The employee may be required to travel on company business to support the NAMS station network and there may be minimal notification before travel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Heavy Physical Work: This position requires heavy physical exertion.
- Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Climbing: Ability to climb and stand on ladders for up to 2 hours.
- Reaching: Full range of motion required.
- Standing/Walking: Stand or walk for approximately 75% of the workday on various surfaces, including concrete, rock, dirt, and pavement, which may be wet or icy.
- Pushing/Pulling: Push or pull up to 100 pounds for moving tools and equipment.
- Crawling: Moderate amount of crawling required.
- Bending/Twisting: Moderate repetitive bending and twisting.
- Talking: Regular communication with customers and coworkers.
- Vision: Good vision required.
- Hearing: Good hearing required for effective communication.
- Environmental Conditions:
- Exposure to high noise levels.
- Exposure to moving aircraft and equipment.
- Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, heat, and cold.
- Exposure to hazardous materials and exhaust fumes.
- Working in confined spaces.
- Working outdoors in harsh winter conditions for up to 2 hours.
- Potential use of personal protective equipment, including respirators.
