We are looking for a Propane Operations Manager to provide leadership and subject-matter expertise for propane operations across the organization, with responsibility for training, compliance, and operational growth. The position partners closely with managers and the Sales team to support employee development, ensure regulatory and insurance requirements are met, and advance propane business opportunities. Serving as a key resource during audits, inspections, and expansion initiatives, the role helps maintain safe, efficient, and compliant operations. The position also provides hands-on operational support as needed to ensure continuity during peak demand and complex projects.

About the Position

You’ll report to the Director of Propane Operations, focusing on these key responsibilities: 

Training

  • Oversees propane training programs, including PEP training assignments and bobtail driver skill assessments for plant and transport drivers.
  • Leads periodic leak check refresher training across all locations to maintain safety and compliance standards.
  • Partners with managers to support the onboarding, development, and ongoing training of propane employees.

 Audits & Inspections

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for annual propane audits from insurance carriers.
  • Coordinates and conducts annual propane storage tank inspections at each plant location.
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and employees on propane compliance requirements at company facilities.
  • Acts as a technical resource for managers, service technicians, and drivers regarding leak check requirements and best practices.

 Business Development

  • Supports the Sales team by providing propane-related expertise, solutions, and operational insights.
  • Coordinates requests by addressing them directly or facilitating appropriate handoff to internal teams.
  • Serves as Project Manager for the growth and expansion of propane operations across all company locations.

 Installations & Deliveries

  • Provides operational support on large or complex propane installations.
  • Supports propane delivery operations during peak winter demand as needed.

 Additional Duties

  • Delivers bottle fill training to customers on an as-needed basis to ensure safe and proper handling 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (5+ years of technical experience with propane, equipment or quality assurance).
  • Expertise and hands-on experience with propane tank installations, leak checks, and ability to lead others. 
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to propane and equipment.
  • Ability to explain technical issues in simple language.  
  • Current CDL, Class B or higher, with hazardous material, tanker, and airbrakes endorsements
  • Must comply with all D.O.T., industry, and company safety regulations.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as technical procedures, government regulations, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, establish timelines, and drive initiatives to completion while maintaining schedules and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work with mid and high-level managers at the Company’s accounts.
  • Travel 50% of the time and create an efficient and effective travel schedule.  
  • Ability to manage competing tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills.  
  • Ability to train others.  
  • Possess a high degree of organizational skills, accurate and detailed, and interact well with team members.
