About the Position
We are seeking a skilled and dependable technician to perform preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on Coleman Oil’s heavy‑duty vehicle fleet. The ideal candidate is punctual, self‑motivated, hardworking, and committed to maintaining accurate repair records. This position is Monday to Friday, with a start time of 6:00 am and will include weekends as required.
What You’ll Do
- Inspecting and Diagnosing
- Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test diesel engine systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults.
- Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit.
- Adjustments and Repairs
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of truck and trailer systems including fuel system, air systems, tank plumbing and valves, ABS, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized repair equipment.
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drive train, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems including structural, brake and electrical systems.
- Routine Maintenance
- Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrication, and tune ups.
- Miscellaneous
- Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor.
- Advise drivers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
- Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
Skills & Experience
- CDL license preferred
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Proficient with hand tools
- Solid understanding of preventive maintenance procedures
