JOB SUMMARY Provides support to the Sales Representative and Island Manager as a liaison between customers and various departments within Tropical. Provides customers with the highest level of service and customer care through resolution of problems, prompt responses to inquiries, initiation of Freight Correction Notices, accurate rate quotes, cargo release, logging and the follow-up customer complaints. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAnswers all incoming service-related telephone calls, supplying rate quotes as needed and researching customer problems. Responsible for the weekly coordination of LCL cargo with the primary receive facilities as per established best practice.Liaison between Tropical departments to resolve customer issues and acts as a point of contact. Handles all customer complaints and maintains a log with follow-up actions and results.Prepare, submit and track corrections to bill of lading. Handles discrepancies on bills of lading from start to resolution within 24 hours.Track lost or misplaced cargo. Maintain and update comments screen in TLink for relevant shipments. Responsible for processing SIRS incident reporting.Assist Sales Manager in securing new business and maintaining current customer a minimum of one day per week. Provides timely notification of cargo arrival to all consignees. Administers document processing for the release of cargo from Port Authority officials as per Tropical Cargo Release policy.Process Seven Seas insurance claims as required.Prepares import and export documentation as needed, including data entry required for compliance with government cargo regulations and reporting systems.Administers timely billing of demurrage charges according to the Tropical Demurrage procedure.Performs all other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE: Three years experience in Customer Service.LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License.TRAVEL: N/APHYSICAL: Office Environment – Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. Ability to bend or stoop to retrieve lower shelf files. Ability to reach overhead to retrieve upper shelf files. Ability to sit 1/3 – 2/3 of day.
