Job Summary

Hawaii Petroleum is looking for an Assistant Dispatcher to steer our transportation team and be the driving force behind our logistics success. The ideal candidate will support the daily petroleum operations by scheduling and coordinating fuel deliveries and ensuring all driver operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner. What You Will Do

  • Support the dispatch team and operations leadership in managing the daily activities of the wholesale petroleum department.
  • Coordinate bulk fuel deliveries to customers on the Big Island and handle incoming orders.
  • Oversee the delivery of petroleum products, ensuring all documentation and paperwork are completed, and occasionally drive the company vehicle for work-related tasks.
  • Resolve customer issues and act as a liaison between the company and customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with the wholesale team via email, phone, and in-person to foster a learning and development culture.
  • Assist with dispatch team needs during absences, including roles of Fuel Logistics Manager and Driver Dispatcher.
  • Collaborate with Operations Manager/Supervisor and Sales to enhance route efficiency and customer relationships.
  • Ensures environmental compliance and safe operation of company trucks, per OSHA and DOT as well as Local, State and Federal requirements.
  • Adhere to company rules, policies, and safety regulations and attend mandatory company training sessions.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • Seeking Candidates 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possess a current Driver’s license (Type 3) and acquire a TWIC card and driver history record at time of hire.
  • Experience in commercial driving with fuel transport and delivery preferred with at least 3 years of supervisory and/or dispatch experience.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills, essential for effective collaboration with co-workers, vendors, customers, and other partners.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy loads up to 40 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times, climb ladders and perform other physical tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Operate work related technology including company issued computers, tablets and/or a Smart Phone with a basic understanding of Microsoft Office 365 email and applications.
  • Must be open to a flexible schedule, including morning, mid, and night shifts on both weekdays and weekends, and be on call for after-hours troubleshooting.
