Job Summary:
The Assistant Site Manager supports the Site Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the terminal. This role involves assisting with operational, administrative, safety, and customer service activities to ensure smooth, efficient, and compliant site performance. The Assistant Site Manager plays a key part in maintaining high standards of safety, regulatory compliance, inventory control, and customer satisfaction while fostering a culture of teamwork and operational excellence.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Site Manager in monitoring terminal operations, including fuel transfers, barge resupply coordination, tank gauging, and equipment inspections. Support the day-to-day functions of a bulk fuel terminal including valving, pumps, loading facilities, and dockside fueling.
- Help coordinate scheduling, training, and supervision of terminal staff. Monitor performance and support a productive, safety-conscious work environment. Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation for site activities and regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with operations, sales, and marketing teams to meet customer needs. Assist with inventory tracking and supply coordination to ensure timely product availability and resupply logistics.
- Support the implementation of safety procedures and training for all staff and visitors. Assist in conducting regular safety inspections, reporting incidents or concerns, and ensuring proper use and storage of hazardous materials. Help maintain DOT, EPA, OSHA, and company safety compliance standards.
- Participate in facility inspections and minor maintenance. Promptly report and help coordinate repairs or upgrades to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Collaborate with the Site Manager and staff to identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency, safety practices, and customer satisfaction.
- Support site security efforts, including valve and gate checks, and ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of experience, preferably in the petroleum industry, or a combination of education and experience.
- Certificates/Licenses:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Forklift Certificate can be acquired after hire.
- Drug and Alcohol Training for Supervisors.
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Hazmat and Hazwoper can be acquired after hire.
