Description
EBZ – Courier
This position is responsible for delivering products and materials in liquid, solid, loose, or packaged form.
Essential Duties
Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
Conducts thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles being operated, in accordance with established company policies and procedures, reporting discrepancies immediately
Ensure that cargo is secured for transport in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws
Operates sub-CDL equipment (speeder van/Courier Truck/) in order to deliver customer freight in a variety of locations and environments
Maintain good housekeeping standards with focus on the care and custody of materials
Pickup orders at warehouse prepare for delivery
Prioritize and complete day-to-day activities as assigned based on customer needs
Assist on the Dock and/or when two-employee deliveries are required
Maintain rear facing event recorder
Update tablet based on pick-up and delivery orders
Maintain contact with terminal dispatcher/warehouse to receive instructions
Accurately maintain courier stop-logs/jockey sheet
May field incoming calls responding appropriately and timely to customer inquiries
May be required to perform basic emergency roadside repairs
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
21 years of age
Valid Class D driver’s license
Medical card
High school diploma, or equivalent required
One to two years’ courier driving experience preferred
Previous material handling, HAZMAT, and forklift experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic computer knowledge
Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills
Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions, completes tasks on time or communicates alternate plans
Treats people with respect; keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational values
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
Impeccable character, integrity, and unfailing initiative in a team environment
Must be experienced to operate in snow and ice road conditions, with the ability to chain up
Must be able to prioritize daily task and assignments
Must be customer focused and represent Carlile in a professional and friendly manner
Basic knowledge of commercial e-log systems
Must have time management skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Must be able to read a map to determine best route

Competitive base hourly rate: ($18.50 – $26.00) depending on experience and qualifications +$5.00 Location Differential

Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions (extreme cold and inclement conditions – snow, ice, rain, wind, etc.). The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vehicle vibration. The employee will also be exposed to high density road traffic as well as inter-city traffic.
