Summary

As an HR Coordinator at Saltchuk, reporting to the VP, Human Resources, you will play a crucial role in supporting leader development programs across the Saltchuk family of companies and assist the corporate home human resources team with recruitment, engagement survey administration, new hire orientation and onboarding, HRIS data entry in ADP and LMS support in Cornerstone, morale building activities and more to ensure smooth day-to-day corporate home HR operations. This position involves collaborating with our small but mighty HR team, management, and employees to promote a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Training and Development: Coordinate and support Saltchuk leader development programs such as the Saltchuk LDP and Advanced LDP programs, as well as the Business Acumen classes. You will be the main contact for employees who attend these programs and coordinate all aspects of the training including working with our Facilitator and HR Leaders to schedule and fill class rosters; sending invites and pre-work to participants; preparing curriculum materials; coordinating logistics, catering, post-class team assignments; creating cost allocation spreadsheets; and other tasks as needed. 
  • On-boarding and Termination: Communicate with Facilities, HR, and IT on all new hires and terminations, coordinating all necessary arrangements.
  • Recruitment: Assist in the recruitment process by posting jobs, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting initial screening interviews, coordinating new hire itineraries, and onboarding activities. Collaborate with and support hiring managers and ensure a positive candidate experience aligned with our culture.
  • Employee Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in electronic databases.
  • HRIS Systems Support: Become familiar with basic ADP data entry and look up features to support new hire data entry.
  • LMS – Cornerstone:  Learn routine Cornerstone administrative skills to help support employee questions and troubleshoot issues. 
  • Administrative Support and Special Projects: Assist the department with administrative support for various special projects such as the employee engagement survey every two years or other various special projects as needed. 
  • Morale building events: Assist with promoting various corporate home morale building events and/or recognition in support of retention and creating a great working environment.
  • Customer Service and Relationship Building: Deliver exceptional customer service to our business partners. Build solid relationships across the Saltchuk Family of Companies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed to support the needs of the HR team and/or Corporate Home.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to handle various HR tasks.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in HR processes and data.
  • A collaborative style with strong team orientation is essential. Known for being approachable, supportive, non-judgmental, and welcoming questions and concerns.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment, juggling multiple priorities. 
  • Superb organizational skills and use of checklists for various projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    • Competitive base annual salary range: $30-$45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
