POSITION SUMMARY:
The Flight Support Agent accompanies each assigned flight to ensure that all required policies and procedures are followed in the handling of cargo onboard and that all loading and unloading activity is accomplished safely and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures cargo is safely loaded, distributed, and restrained on the aircraft per Company policies, procedures, and all applicable government regulations
- Verifies the physical load on aircraft matches the documented weight and location recorded on load sheet
- Monitors the safe loading of oversized and special cargo following strapping plans and restraint calculations prepared by Load Control per FAA guidelines and in accordance with NAC Weight and Balance Program
- Ensures compliance with CFR 49 regulations and IATA regulations for loading of Dangerous Goods
- Coordinates and supervises all cargo-related functions associated with the assigned flight(s), including inspection and supervision of ULD build-up operations and weighing of cargo prior to it being loaded on the Company’s aircraft.
- Cargo build up on preenplaned ULD(s) inside aircraft when full ULD loading operations are not available
- Prepare and distribute all appropriate aircraft load plans and weight and balance documentation
- Reviews, confirms location, and signs pilot notification (NOTOC), to list and communicate the quantity and location of all Dangerous Goods and special handling cargo for each flight, in accordance with CFR 49, IATA, and ICAO
- Ensure that all revenue cargo and COMAT loaded on company aircraft under their control is properly inspected, packaged, labeled, and weighed
- Supervises and directs all contract labor groups assigned to handling, loading, and offloading the assigned aircraft.
- Supervises loading activities to avoid damage to aircraft, cargo and equipment, and injury to personnel working on or around the aircraft
- Conducts random checks to verify the accuracy of cargo weight, Dangerous Goods and documentation required for the flight.
- Operates (or supervises the operation of) all aircraft cargo doors, cargo conveyance, and restraint systems; and the installation and stowage of all required cargo door sill guards and anti-tipping equipment
- Inspects aircraft cargo conveyance and restraint systems for proper operation. Notifies the Maintenance Representative if any repair is needed
- Inspects tendered ULDs for damage and deficiencies, and ensures that the contained cargo is adequately secured. Rejects any ULDs that do not meet minimum standards
- Ensures that no pilferage, loss, or damage of cargo occurs while it is in the Company’s custody; maintains control over all company owned / leased ULDs and cargo restraint equipment; close all aircraft doors and secure the aircraft prior to leaving at layover stations or any other location where company personnel are not present to perform such tasks
- Flies with the aircraft as an onboard Fight Support Agent as assigned and performs all duties under the direct authority of the Pilot-In-Command
- Ensures that all trash and other debris are removed from the aircraft and / or turned over to the appropriate parties after the completion of the flight. Performs any other tasks that may be required to keep the aircraft cabin and cargo compartments clean and orderly
- Assists the other crewmembers in seeing that the cabin of the aircraft is kept clean and orderly at all times. Prior to takeoff and landing, ensures that all trash and debris has been picked up and bagged and that all baggage, and COMAT are properly secured
- Ensures that the cargo compartments of the aircraft are kept clean and orderly. All trash, debris and cargo restraint equipment in these compartments must be picked up, secured or disposed of prior to takeoff of the aircraft and immediately after the cargo offload has been completed
- Operates all ground service equipment in a safe manner
- Assists in planning loads to maximize the usage of space and payload on the aircraft
- Prepares and signs load sheets for flights as required
- Responsible for the accuracy of all required paperwork and documentation
- Ensures adherence to all procedures in the Manuals for Cargo Service Agents
- Makes sure all tasks required for their flight are complete
- Regular attendance and shift work is required
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 6-months experience with cargo aircraft operations, one year strongly preferred
- Have possession of a valid passport
- Valid drivers license with good driving record required
- Have a thorough knowledge of the transport of Dangerous Goods by air
- Ability to complete all initial and re-current training
- Must meet the requirements to physically secure the safety restraints of the jump seat
- Must be safety focused and follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Minimum 18 years old
- Must be able to read, write, and speak in English
- Be familiar with the pallet design and build up, ground loading equipment, aircraft loading systems (especially ULD locking mechanisms), and load planner duties
- Must have experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel in particular for weight and balance software and the ability to learn basic computer applications
- Must have a history of outstanding interpersonal relationships with customers and coworkers
- Be able to interact successfully with variety of stakeholders
- Work with little or no supervision and accomplishes tasks as assigned
- Extensive travel is required. May be temporarily based at other company stations/locations as required
- Must be able to travel internationally without restriction
- Extended duty hours maybe required
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test, background check and pass TSA clearance to receive SIDA badge
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Speaking is required to communicate with flight crews, customers, ground personnel, etc.
- Good hearing is required for effective and safe communication with co-workers
- Ability to write brief trip synopsis, routine e-mails, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Flying: This job function requires constant travel on company aircraft, and occasional overnight stays
- Work is performed in the warehouse and aircraft, outside and on the ramp
- May be exposed to adverse weather conditions (cold and heat), wet surfaces and icy conditions
- May be exposed to high noise levels, dirt, dust, fumes, etc.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials
- May be working around stationary and moving aircraft
- May operate on or around industrial equipment
- Use of personal protective equipment may be required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
