Port Utility Person

Pressure washes and/or sweeps out shipping containers and equipment, treats rusted areas and/or disinfects inside of containers as needed. Cleans and maintains shop, washout, and reefer pre-trip inspection (PTI) areas, including trash removal as needed.-Pressure washes and/or sweeps out shipping containers and equipment as required using machinery provided.-Checks equipment, ensuring an adequate water supply, oil level, fuel tank and storage tanks levels and all working properly.-Inspects surfaces after washing to ensure it is clear of any food, dirt, and debris.-Notifies manager and lead personnel of unusual and/or excessive damages.-Follows all safety protocols to prevent damage or injury.-Treats rusted areas on equipment, applies aluminum cleaner and/or disinfectant as applicable.-Performs minor container repairs as needed.-Cleans and washes equipment daily.-Cleans and/or pumps out wash areas/pads routinely.-Cleans and maintains the shop, washout and pre-trip areas and their surrounding areas.-Operates forklifts and jockey truck as necessary, to allow constant flow of containers through the yard.-Performs all other assigned duties.EDUCATION:    High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE:    Six months of experience in cleaning, painting and pressure washing.LICENSE:    Valid local driver’s license. Certified to operate fork-lifts and jockey trucks or ability to obtain certifications within six months of hire.TRAVEL:    N/APHYSICAL:    Operations – Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer or handheld devices.  Ability to frequently twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb on equipment, push/pull 50 pounds, crawl, lift and carry at least 80 pounds on a daily basis.  Able to withstand exposure to extreme weather conditions as exposed to outside elements during the daily workday.LANGUAGE:    English

Port Equipment Operator- Nightshift

JOB SUMMARY Pulls serviced refrigeration equipment to ready area to provide room at pre-trip lines. Stages gen-set chassis in the port and pulls decked out boxes from the port to the pre-trip lines. Keeps reefer yard open for additional arriving reefers to service. Operates reach stacker and heavy lift fork-lifts to mount and dismount containers. Moves damaged containers to shop for repair. Fuels and check fluids of the Tropical equipment. Identifies defects of Tropical equipment and reports back to supervisor.  JOB SCOPENo supervisory or budgetary responsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOperates jockey truck, fuel truck, fork-lifts, and reach stacker as necessary to supply reefer yard with equipment.Transports ready, needing pre-trip and damaged equipment in and out of reefer yard.Updates computer system of incoming/outgoing equipment.Notifies supervisor of unusual and/or excessive damages or issues/potential problems.Performs daily maintenance check on jockey truck, fuel truck, fork-lift and reach stacker.Maintains clear, effective communication using radio.Fuels equipment as needed and documents usage.Checks and maintains fluids of jockey truck, fuel truck and/or assigned equipment.Reports discrepancies and excessive usage of fuel, coolant, or lubricants.Maintains cleanliness and functionality of fuel truck.Maintains cleanliness of reefer shop and surroundings.Performs all other duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE: Two years in trucking or shipping operations experience. Experience in operating tractor trailers and heavy machinery. One year CDL experience operating equipment and fueling equipment.LICENSE: Valid Class A CDL with ability to obtain Tanker & HAZMAT endorsement. Must pass DOT physical. Fork-lift certification. Trucking & Intermodal Accounting Specialist

JOB SUMMARY Processes Intermodal invoices for Birdsall, Inc./Tropical Shipping.  Works in conjunction with railroads, motor carriers, and Tropical personnel to facilitate payment of vendor invoices for mainland shipments to Tropical facilities within the United States. Reconciles with Accounting Department and provides upload files monthly.  Ensures charges are in compliance with tariff and provides reports as required.EDUCATION: Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or in a related fieldEXPERIENCE: One to three years experience in Accounting or Finance.LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License.TRAVEL: N/A
