The Opportunity:

We are seeking QMED to be onboard our subsea rock installation vessel (SRIV) fleet and is an essential part of the crew, plays an active role in operations. QMED works under the general administrative supervision of the Chief Engineer or, during the absence of the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Engineer. This is a domestic project–based position, with immediate assignment to our SRIV in the United States. The typical work rotation is 4 weeks on duty, followed by 4 weeks off.

Responsibilities:   

  • Follow all company safety rules and recommended practices during assigned operations and tasks
  • This position shall perform routine operation in engine room and mechanical duties aboard the vessel.
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested
  • Greases marine equipment such as diesel engines, pumps, shafts, and bearings.
  • They shall assist in making engine room repairs. He/she inspects and records levels in fuel, water, oil, and slop oil tanks. 
  • May lift, carry, pull, or push items weighing up to 50 lb. when assisting with repairs, the length of the vessel and below deck.

  • Periodically the employee will be required to spend 7 days watching safety training videos prudent to their job duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years sea time on vessels
  • Strong preference for candidate to hold a QMED (Qualified Member of the Engine Department) rating from the USCG.
  • Has the ability to learn and use the procedures associated with living on a vessel such as firefighting, first aid, and use of life saving equipment.
  • Merchant Mariners Credentials (MMC)
  • Valid TWIC
  • Valid U.S. Passport 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office
