Description

Position Summary

A yacht steward is a vital part of the interior crew on yachts, responsible for maintaining the vessel's immaculate interior and providing exceptional service to owners and guests.  As Relief Steward, you’ll join a crew of five aboard the 120-foot classic 1930s private motor yacht Thea Foss based in Seattle, reporting directly to the Captain. You will assist and relieve head Steward on day trips and dinner cruises during the spring and fall seasons for groups of up to 20 guests. You, the Chef, and the Deckhand will work together as a service team. The yacht serves to entertain Saltchuk Resources’ shareholders, employees, and company guests.

The Relief Steward is the quintessential “people person” who knows how to make a great impression. We are looking for someone who has flexibility to work part-time as needed in the spring and fall.  The ideal candidate values presentation and enjoys working with the Captain and Crew to ensure that all guests enjoy a top-notch experience.  Prior yacht experience makes you a valued crew member, able to work independently without a lot of direction.

Thea Foss Vessel Overview

The 120-foot, 260 GRT Thea Foss is a steel-hulled luxury yacht designed by famed naval architect L.E. (Ted) Geary and built by Craig Shipbuilding Co. in Long Beach, California in 1930. The vessel has 5 crew members and carries up to 20 guests for dinner-cruises or 10 guests for overnight cruises. The owner Saltchuk Resources committed to extensive restoration over the years, and the vessel is in excellent operational and cosmetic condition. Today, Thea Foss is home-ported in Seattle on Lake Union and is used for the enjoyment of the customers and guests of the Saltchuk family of companies. The boat is operated and maintained year-round.   The vessel may travel to Alaska or the San Juan Islands in the summer for a few months and otherwise is based in Seattle on Lake Union for local dinner cruising in the Spring and Fall/Winter, with Jan-April in maintenance.
