POSITION PROFILE (Job Summary)
This position is responsible for providing support to the Cargo Management department on the night side. Position schedule and hours will be Monday through Friday from 2:30PM until 11:00PM. Duties include managing customer relationships, providing excellent customer service by monitoring and accommodating customer needs, creating, and managing bookings, resolving problems, tracking cargo, as well as entering and approving hazardous materials, and coordinating equipment.
Essential Job Responsibilities AND Results
- Pre-approve customer’s hazardous shipments per the 49CFR and enter hazardous materials data into the back-office system. Answer questions regarding regulation and stipulations with confidence.
- Prepare Hazardous documentation for the key partners and vessel crew.
- Coordinate with operations on terminal capacity issues, prioritizing cargo and providing trailer booking count to assist with planning.
- Resolve customer, vendor, and various terminal issues at the main gate.
- Provide customer service to internal and external customers.
- Communicate with customers internally and externally.
- Assist in assigning and requesting equipment for customers and carrier’s needs.
- Coordinate transload activities with customers, carriers and transload facility.
- Coordinate yard activities and requests with key partners.
- Issue and cancel bookings; set up appointments with customers and vendors.
- Track and maintain department KPI’s.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications)
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- One to two years customer service experience, preferably in transportation.
- DOT 49CFR HazMat Carrier Requirements (Water) preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Most work requires normal physical effort
MANUAL DEXTERITY
Requires moderate use of personal computer (word processing and spreadsheets) for compiling reports, statistical data, composing memoranda and other similar documents.
The salary range is $38, 300 -67,100 with an anticipated base hiring range of $52,000. Pay will be based on several factors including the candidate’s education, work experience, work location and specific job duties.
