DUTIES:

  • Welcomes customers by greeting them appropriately and maintaining security by following procedures.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and provides customer information. 
  • Sells Northern Air Cargo services in person and over the phone.
  • Promptly responds to inquiries about company services, regulations, transit information, procedures, and rates.
  • Quotes rates, executes air bills accurately and completely, tracks shipments, and arranges pick up or delivery of freight.
  • Ensures freight is properly described.
  • Performs self-audits on airway bills and other documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Researches and resolves customer issues and answers customer questions.
  • Notifies customer of applicable policies and regulations related to shipments.
  • Handles cash, credit card and customer account payment methods.
  • Updates sales team with pertinent customer information.
  • Maintains clean and safe work area.
  • Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and performs database management in JetStream.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Six months related experience and/or training required.
  • Must be able to interact well with customers.
  • Must be highly proficient at multi-tasking.
  • Need strong attention to detail.
  • Must be highly computer literate. 
  • Need to be a self-starter. 
  • Presents a friendly and professional image to the public. 
  • Must be able to work under flexible customer service demands.
  • Must be able to type accurately and use a ten key.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Regular attendance and shift work is required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check and receive TSA clearance to operate in secure area.

LANGUAGE and COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and interoffice memos. 
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to write routine business correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, in person, and over the telephone.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak, and listen. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
