Summary:
The Ground Operations Supervisor offers expanded oversight of ramp, catering, screening, and snow removal activities to provide safe and orderly service to our customer. The Ground Operation Supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, Company policies, and promotes the safety culture to the departments and throughout the company; and ensures all Federal and State rules and regulations are adhered to.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES:
The Ground Operations Supervisor shall be responsible for directing and coordinating all ground operations in support of ConocoPhillips Aviation in Anchorage. The nature of this job requires that this person be knowledgeable in all work areas and willing to perform a broad range of duties depending on service demands.
Duties:
- Coordinate with the Manager of Ground Operations and leads, to assure adequate staffing based on the customer’s daily flight schedule, accommodating all delays.
- Maintain weekly, monthly work schedule to ensure the most efficient use of personnel.
- Ensure proper inventory levels for all catering and cleaning supplies required for a successful operation.
- Ensure training classes for ramp personnel are completed to maintain safe ground operations.
- Coordinate and conduct OJT training.
- Coordinate between the ramp and GSE when equipment must be taken offline for repair.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies.
- Displays a positive, professional attitude with customers and employees.
- Ensure that daily safety briefs are carried out according to company and department policies.
- Prepare and approve timesheets
- Approve PTO and arrange coverage
- Travel may be required.
- Overtime, Weekend, and holiday work may be required.
- Additional or other duties as assigned by the Manager, Ground Operations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must possess a valid Alaska driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in the airline industry.
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities and have a good working knowledge of aircraft passenger operations.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to direct others on his/her team.
- Must be able to read documents, follow instructions, learn and understand operations procedures, rules and regulations.
- Ability to conduct oneself with professionalism and provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to obtain airport security clearance, pass a pre-employment drug test and a 7-year background check.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The work is classified as “heavy” with regards to the physical demands.
- Lifting/carrying requirements: Up to 70 pounds.
- Climbing: Up ladders and stairs.
- Reaching: Transferring baggage onto belt loaders.
- Standing/Walking: 75% of the day. Ramp can be wet and icy seasonally. Must exercise caution at all times.
- Pushing/Pulling: Up to 150 pounds.
- Crawling: Minimal crawling required.
- Repetitive bending/twisting: Frequently.
- Talking: Talking is required throughout the day. Talking on the company phone and reciprocal communication with co-workers will be required.
- Vision: Good vision is required to perform all tasks.
- Hearing: Good hearing is required for effective and safe communication with co-workers and the ability to detect nearby equipment and safety alarms.
- Environmental: Exposure to high noise levels, moving aircraft and equipment, dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, exposure to hazardous materials, exhaust fumes and working in confined spaces for extended periods
