POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Mechanic Assistant is a working member of the maintenance team, with primary responsibilities in ramp and ground operations, supporting aircraft servicing and ground handling activities. This role also assists certified mechanics in aircraft maintenance tasks, providing a pathway for development into advanced maintenance roles. The Mechanic Assistant ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

Key Responsibilities:

1.   Performs aircraft servicing and ramp functions under supervision, including aircraft positioning and ground handling support.

2. Conducts aircraft pushback operations and operates ground equipment as authorized.

3. Connects, operates, and disconnects ground support equipment such as ground power units and air-start units.

4. Assists with aircraft refueling operations in accordance with safety and operational procedures.

5. Sets up, stages, and secures ground service equipment including generator carts, maintenance stands, and related equipment.

6. Provides assistance to certified mechanics for timely and quality completion of assignments in accordance to prescribed processes and procedures. 

7. Provides basic aircraft maintenance support including cleaning of parts and assisting with routine servicing.

8. Adheres to all safety, security, and accident prevention procedures, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.

9. Identifies and reports hazards, equipment discrepancies, or unsafe conditions promptly.

10. Able to perform supply/stores functions in all locations.

11. Escort and assist customer mechanics as needed.

12. Assists in the general upkeep, inspection, and serviceability of ground support equipment and facilities.  

13. Shall be responsible for any additional duties delegated by the crew chief, supervisor- line maintenance or maintenance management personnel.

14. Provide administrative assistance and support when required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Mechanical aptitude, background, or strong interest in aviation maintenance.

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to obtain ramp/movement area certification.

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background checks, and security threat assessment.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

COMPENSATION

This position starts at $20.17 per hour.
