JOB SUMMARY
Manages the Cargo Claims Department, minimizing the Company’s financial exposure to cargo losses by ensuring all cargo claims are filed and resolved in compliance with applicable company standards and objectives, and within national and international laws, protocols and agreements. Oversees and handles claims made against the Company, and first-party claims brought by the Company against appropriate insurers. Assists Director of Risk Management with various aspects of corporate risk management.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or in a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of experience in transportation claims specific to ocean carriage and international and or insurance related experience.
LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License and Valid Passport.
TRAVEL: 5 % travel to Local and International Tropical locations.
Directs the investigation, review, evaluation, negotiation and preparation of settlements for Seven Seas Insurance claim submissions.
Supervises and leads a team of adjusters handling claims and the department’s workflow.
Educates and trains team in responsibilities of Best Claims Practices.
Performs quality reviews on claims in compliance with internal and external audits as well as all regulatory requirements, whether domestic or international.
Keeps current on state regulations with issues, industry activities, and trends.
Prepares and analyzes departmental reports.
Forecasts calculation and establishes monitoring of the claims reserve accounts.
Assists the President, Seven Seas Insurance in determining viable markets.
Determines areas with high loss ratio and recommend directions to help lower risk exposure.
Works alongside the President and Director of Business Operations to manage reinsurance notifications.
Performs all other assigned duties.
