Position Profile

This position is responsible for the loading, unloading, receiving, handling and shipping of freight.

Essential Duties

  • Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
  • Read trailer manifests and BOLs to determine items to be moved, gathered, staged, distributed and/or shipped
  • Load/unload containers, lift materials, verify and receive POs and BOLs, count and label
  • Pack and/or ship materials in compliance with DOT, HAZMAT, and Carlile policies and
    • procedures
  • Consolidate boxes and pallets for shipment
  • Note damaged freight, record on BOL and photograph OS&D using handheld RFID guns
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards with focus on the care and custody of materials
  • Prepare and prioritize orders for shipment to include delivery documents
  • Prioritize and complete day-to-day activities as assigned based on customer needs, as directed by Supervisor
  • Use forklift and other equipment to carry out essential duties
  • Interact with drivers and work together to process freight
  • May assist with customer pick-up/drop-offs, loading and securing flats
  • May assist with receiving Northern Air Cargo freight
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year previous material handling and forklift experience, preferred
  • Must become forklift certified

    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
    • Efficiently handle parcel packages (sort/seg) create a freight bill and palletize freight.
    • Use of a handheld device
    • In Alaska: Knowledge of DOT and HazMat regulations

Working Environment

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, forklifts, box cutters and tape dispensers. There may be exposure to weather conditions as well as exposure to hazardous chemicals, materials, and airborne pathogens, with frequent walking, bending, and lifting.
