B. JOB SUMMARY
Supports company personnel and vessel crew in utilizing endpoint computer equipment, software, and peripherals, such as a PC, laptop, or printer. Provides support for Office Systems and desktop applications including systems related to vessel operations. Assists with ship communications and server troubleshooting. Maintains supporting documentation.
C. JOB SCOPE
No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities
D. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sets up and installs endpoint computers, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
2. Diagnoses and troubleshoots computer issues and hardware and software problems.
3. Upgrades firmware, software, and outdated hardware systems.
4. Provides technical support to users and prepares system documentation.
5. Identifies and resolves network, server, and application connectivity issues.
6. Records and documents issues and resolutions with the Helpdesk ticketing application.
7. Maintains inventory of hardware, software, and peripherals. Creates records of repairs and fixes.
8. Ensures compliance with corporate guidelines for the use and operation of endpoint systems.
9. Maintains system security and data privacy and protection.
10. Works with IT server and telecommunications teams to support vessel systems.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
E. MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent; CompTIA IT Fundamentals or A+ certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Three years in supporting personal computer software and equipment in standalone and networked environments. Knowledge of vessel operations and satellite communications.
LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License and Valid Passport.
TRAVEL: 20% travel to both domestic and international Tropical locations. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on vessel schedules.
PHYSICAL: Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 8 hours per day. Mobility required to oversee operations activities and to perform inspection duties. Ability to frequently twist, bend, read, squat, kneel and climb heights up to 15 feet, occasionally must lift and carry up to 80 lbs. Ability to sit 1/3 – 2/3 of day. Ability to travel in various modes of transportation (e.g. automobile, airplane, train etc..) Occasionally exposed to outside elements during the course of traveling.
