Position Profile
This position is responsible for managing both Local and Linehaul dispatching activities, which include routing, scheduling, and dispatching drivers, equipment, and freight loads, as well as reporting on these activities. This encompasses oversight of company drivers, owner-operators, and third-party carriers.
Essential Duties
Operate safety and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures, promptly reporting and investigating all accidents, incidents, and injuries in accordance with company policy and DOT regulations.
• Identify, plan, design, and implement processes and procedures to optimize resource use, improve services, and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policy, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
• Manage both Local and Linehaul dispatch operations, overseeing routing, scheduling, and dispatching of drivers, equipment, and freight loads, while ensuring efficient operations and timely reporting of activities.
• Maximize equipment and driver utilization to create efficiencies between terminals.
• Collaborate closely with Human Resources and Regulatory Compliance to maintain driver records and training.
• Coordinate with Repair and Maintenance to ensure equipment is properly maintained and available for use.
• Work with Terminal Managers daily to plan staffing, freight, and equipment movement.
• Collaborate with Account Executives as necessary.
• Assist Human Resources in recruitment and retention efforts.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics preferred
Five to seven years’ dispatching, or progressively responsible experience in transportation industry including at least two years of supervisory experience
Experience with transportation industry-specific software
Valid Driver License, Class A CDL preferred
KSAs
Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel
Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills

Strong organizational and customer service skills, attention to detail and accuracy

Knowledge of DOT regulations, weights, measures and hours of service requirements

Working Environment
This job routinely operates in an office environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other office-related devices. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard-free environment. While performing this job, there may be occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, as well as exposure to hazardous chemicals, materials and airborne pathogens.
