JOB SUMMARY Provides the Port Equipment Operator Lead with precise and clear directional signals in loading and discharging vessels.JOB SCOPENo supervisory or budgetary responsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides Port Equipment Operator Lead with required guidance for safe and proper crane operation using approved hand signals. Ensures deck gear is set up according to stowage plan.  Coordinates with Port Equipment Operator Lead, and vessel personnel to ensure proper placement of containers on ship. Inspects and sweeps containers as needed for damage and/or cleanliness and directs Port Equipment Operator II as to where they are to be staged via radio communications.Assists in rigging of special lifts both ashore and aboard vessels.Operates 10 ton fork-lift to move containers and other cargo.Maintains certification and proficiency in fork-lift operation.Performs shipside support for handling lines and setting gangways.Assists Port Equipment Operator Lead with routine maintenance inspection.  Also assists Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Port Equipment Operator and Port Equipment Operator Lead with crane maintenance.Inspects and cleans shipside work area to ensure safe environment and properly maintained rigging gear.Monitors work areas on-board vessels to ensure personal safety.Retrieves, loads and braces vehicles into containers for export shipment.Drives and operates equipment, machinery and automobiles into hold or deck of ships.Prepares support equipment check sheets daily and submits weekly. Cross trains on crane team application on handheld computers.Empties garbage cans in port seawalls and assists during spill clean ups.Performs all other duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE: Six months experience in or shipping operations experience.LICENSE: Valid local driver’s license.TRAVEL: N/APHYSICAL: Operations – Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer or handheld.  Ability to frequently twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb on equipment, push/pull 50 pounds, crawl, lift and carry at least 80 pounds and push/pull 200 pounds on a daily basis.  Able to withstand constant exposure to extreme weather conditions.  Must pass DOT physical.LANGUAGE: English

Port Equipment Operator- Nightshift

JOB SUMMARY Pulls serviced refrigeration equipment to ready area to provide room at pre-trip lines. Stages gen-set chassis in the port and pulls decked out boxes from the port to the pre-trip lines. Keeps reefer yard open for additional arriving reefers to service. Operates reach stacker and heavy lift fork-lifts to mount and dismount containers. Moves damaged containers to shop for repair. Fuels and check fluids of the Tropical equipment. Cargo Handling Specialist

JOB SUMMARY Inspects and receives cargo to protect the interest of Tropical and its customers.  Verifies that cargo meets Tropical’s minimum requirements for cargo acceptance.  Notifies supervisor / crew leader for problem resolution when cargo does not meet Tropical requirements.  Measures and documents the shipment’s size, type and characteristics along with complete written record of any discrepancies.  Applies proper Tropical labels according to cargo marks and paperwork and enters correct data in the warehouse management system, preparing cargo for putaway.  Operates a forklift as part of the receiving, stripping, or putaway processes.  Puts away cargo in the proper location and documents that transaction properly in the warehouse management system.JOB SCOPENo supervisory or budgetary responsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInspects cargo to ensure that cargo meets the Tropical receiving guidelines for acceptance.Receives cargo by :a.  Verifying and documenting the count.b.  Ensuring that cargo matches description on the carrier’s freight billc.  Verifying and documenting cargo condition.d.  Properly noting exceptions (discrepancies) on the delivery agent’s paperwork.e.  Checks for proper hazardous material documents.f.   Signs the delivery receipt, and accepts cargo in accordance with the receiving process.Measures cargo and enters information into the warehouse management system or on hand tally.Properly, accurately, and legibly, records all other required information on tally or in warehouse management system.Prepares cargo for putaway by verifying paperwork, and placing cargo on pallets.  Secures cargo to pallets with shrinkwrap and/or tape.Applies labels to each handling unit, in accordance with company procedures.Exhibits good customer service skills in communicating with customers, truckers, and vendors.Performs and documents pre-shift forklift inspection.Operates a forklift to unload delivery trucks and containers.Strips and transloads cargo as neededTransfers large shipments from delivery truck directly into  containers.Loads containers making sure that cargo is placed properly in containers to ensure maximum stow and damage free transit.Loads flat racks according to flat rack procedures.Ensures proper hazardous material placards are applied when hazardous cargo is loaded.Performs all other assigned duties as requested. Traffic Coordinator- Antigua

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for shipment verification process from tally receipt until cargo is cleared to load.  Maintains successive customer contact to expedite cargo movement to clear to load status, ensuring appropriate export documents have been received and verified. Coordinates documentation process from the time cargo physically received from shipper until cargo is available to Operations for loading in a container.JOB SCOPENo supervisory or budgetary responsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRetrieves tally or invoice in order of receipt from incoming bin to perform shipment verification process.  Reviews tally to determine if all documents required to prepare cargo for shipment are received.  Follows up with appropriate parties (shippers, consignees, or freight forwarders)  regarding incomplete documentation to obtain information and process the necessary paperwork required for export shipments.   Prepares bonds, when necessary, to expedite shipment.Contacts customers to resolve any discrepancies identified in shipment verification process.  Makes appropriate changes to the tally and records information regarding changes in appropriate company business systems.  Coordinates any changes in the cargo destination with Operations for retagging of the freight.Communicates with the Freight Coordinator to correct errors discovered from the receiving process.  Ensures corrections are made and information documented for proper follow up within Receiving Department.Maintains up-to-date “Cargo On Hand” report.  Reconciles physical inventory in accordance with report information.  Prioritizes cargo movement efforts based on date cargo received to facilitate expeditious cargo operations.  Coordinates efforts with outports providing report information as required.Completes clear to load (CTL) requirements to expedite cargo movement, making cargo available to the Loading Department. Appropriately files all unresolved invoices and tallies ensuring easy retrieval by all team members.  Coordinates all day of sail exceptions with Receiving and Loading departments to minimize disruption to normal work flow.Advises customers of the information Tropical requires to expedite cargo shipments with minimal or no delay.  Researches and resolves issues delaying freight movement.Performs all other duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, accounting or related field.EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years general business or accounting experience.Valid Local Driver’s LicenseLICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License.TRAVEL: N/APHYSICAL: Office Environment – Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer.  Ability to bend or stoop to retrieve lower shelf files.  Ability to reach overhead to retrieve upper shelf files.  Ability to sit 1/3 – 2/3 of day.  Ability to work on feet for 1/3 – 2/3 day.LANGUAGE: English     (Education and experience minimums can be substituted with any equivalent combination of training and experience)F.
