Port Mechanic I

JOB SUMMARY            Inspects and tests 20 and 40 foot mechanical reefers and gen-sets. Performs complete preventative maintenance on mechanical reefers and gen-sets with minimal help from existing mechanics or manager. Maintains accurate records of work performed. Performs corrective maintenance on loaded casualty units. Operates jockey truck, fuel truck, fork-lift, and spreader to cover for others in their absence. Performs daily monitoring rounds on loaded units.    MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION:  High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE:  1 year experienceLICENSE:  Valid local driver’s license required. Class “A” CDL with Hazardous endorsement, jockey truck, forklift, commercial tire certification preferred or the                         ability to obtain. TRAVEL: N/APHYSICAL: Operations – Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer or handheld devices. Ability to frequently twist, bend, reach, squat,                          kneel, climb on equipment, push/pull 50 to 100 pounds, crawl, lift and carry at least 80 pounds on a daily basis. Dispatcher- Nightshift

JOB SUMMARY Oversees, schedules, monitors, and prioritizes Owner Operator trucking activities according to booking, vessel departure, and service standards.  Maintains controls over equipment utilization, customer satisfaction, and adherence to tight time frames.-Manages the planning of jobs and Vendor selection to obtain the best Vendor match for customer requirements for Hazmat Loads, Overweight, over dimensional, truck size and LCV drivers. -Manages Tropical drivers’ hours, evaluating drivers to ensure compliance with DOT and Tropical Policies and rules.  Adjust drivers’ hours as needed according to freight volumes.-Updates data into Tritium System & updates data when needed. Address changes, voyage changes, Act. Also updates T-link to ensure customers are charged.-Assigns driver and equipment and confirms with customers via e-mail and or phone. Delivery time, location and equipment type and size.-Monitors several e-mail accounts to verify vendors are ready for next assignment and or issues at location to be addressed.-Create work orders when needed both in T-link and Trinium for reposition moves.-Add assessorial request in system under correct vendor and provide back authorization number for vendor to be paid. Also ensures the accuracy of rates.-Communicate with both internal and external customers to coordinate Pick-up/ deliveries, adding change of equipment, voyage or time change. -Request out of route miles when needed and adds into system.-Performs all other assigned duties. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE: Three years experience in dispatching.LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License.TRAVEL: N/A

Cargo Handling Specialist

JOB SUMMARY Inspects and receives cargo to protect the interest of Tropical and its customers.  Verifies that cargo meets Tropical’s minimum requirements for cargo acceptance.  Notifies supervisor / crew leader for problem resolution when cargo does not meet Tropical requirements.  Measures and documents the shipment’s size, type and characteristics along with complete written record of any discrepancies.  Applies proper Tropical labels according to cargo marks and paperwork and enters correct data in the warehouse management system, preparing cargo for putaway.  Operates a forklift as part of the receiving, stripping, or putaway processes.  Puts away cargo in the proper location and documents that transaction properly in the warehouse management system.JOB SCOPENo supervisory or budgetary responsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInspects cargo to ensure that cargo meets the Tropical receiving guidelines for acceptance.Receives cargo by :a.  Verifying and documenting the count.b.  Ensuring that cargo matches description on the carrier’s freight billc.  Verifying and documenting cargo condition.d.  Properly noting exceptions (discrepancies) on the delivery agent’s paperwork.e.  Checks for proper hazardous material documents.f.   Signs the delivery receipt, and accepts cargo in accordance with the receiving process.Measures cargo and enters information into the warehouse management system or on hand tally.Properly, accurately, and legibly, records all other required information on tally or in warehouse management system.Prepares cargo for putaway by verifying paperwork, and placing cargo on pallets.  Secures cargo to pallets with shrinkwrap and/or tape.Applies labels to each handling unit, in accordance with company procedures.Exhibits good customer service skills in communicating with customers, truckers, and vendors.Performs and documents pre-shift forklift inspection.Operates a forklift to unload delivery trucks and containers.Strips and transloads cargo as neededTransfers large shipments from delivery truck directly into  containers.Loads containers making sure that cargo is placed properly in containers to ensure maximum stow and damage free transit.Loads flat racks according to flat rack procedures.Ensures proper hazardous material placards are applied when hazardous cargo is loaded.Performs all other assigned duties as requested.
