TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico, a leader in safe and reliable service to Puerto Rico, is seeking a Shipment Services Supervisor to join the team at our Jacksonville, FL office.

 

In this position you will:

be responsible for effectively leading and managing the Shipment Services Generalists in their mission to gather and communicate cargo information accurately and efficiently.

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of both industry- and company-specific terminology and procedures as they pertain to freight movement, rating, documentation, and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain and evaluate key departmental performance indicators to assist with measuring employee performance and engagement
  • Build solid relationships with other departments to increase timely communication and information transfer
  • Lead the Shipment Services Generalists and offer continual training/leadership opportunities for the development of the Shipment Services team
  • Maintain and update departmental processes and procedures, focusing on efficiency and accuracy
  • Schedule work hours to support business requirements (with minimal to no overtime)
  • Approve time sheets and vacation requests
  • Perform weekly one-on-ones, staff meetings & performance reviews
  • Provide Shipment Services escalation support on Friday evenings/Saturdays mornings for matters requiring leadership attention
  • Assist the Shipment Services Manager with continuous improvement projects, reports, and tasks as needed.
  • Empower the Shipment Services Team to make decisions, lead, and grow as a department. 

 

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook
  • Experience with Regulatory, Customs, and USDA strongly preferred
  • 2-4 years experience in the ocean transportation industry required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or a related equivalent field experience and/or the equivalent combination of education and 5 years of direct work experience preferred
