Description

The Foss Maritime Fleet Engineering Team is responsible for the operational readiness, maintenance and regulatory compliance of a diverse tug fleet.  In addition, we continually promote a safety culture to personnel and vendors working onboard company vessels and provide direct support regarding equipment inspections, vessel surveys, repairs, dry-dockings and yard periods as required.  Work is accomplished in a very fast paced dynamic environment, often with complex issues and competing priorities. A Fleet Engineering Intern will be expected to assist the Fleet Engineering Team with the specific responsibilities which include:

  • Ensure Regional Managers are kept informed of all issues pertaining to vessels in their region including but not limited to;
    • Maintenance and Repairs (Planned and Unplanned)
    • Regulatory and Compliance
    • Budgetary and Schedule Risks
  • Development of detailed M&R Budgets that identify upcoming Statutory, Regulatory and Foss required maintenance events.
  • Accompany USCG and ABS surveyors for mid-period inspections, load line annual surveys, special, intermediate surveys and other regulatory inspections. Responsible for the remedy and repair of all deficiencies, both operational and administrative.
  • Implementation of effective Inspection and Maintenance tasks to ensure reliable operations of all vessels.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong interest in Marine Engineering Technology and willingness to learn practical applications.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and human relation skills necessary in working with internal customers and other departments.
  • Good organizational, prioritizing and planning skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word for Windows, and Outlook.
