Summary/objective

This position is responsible for assisting senior accounting staff with ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, managing fixed assets in the ERP system, and reconciling general ledger accounts.

Essential functions

  • Performs general accounting functions including the following:
    • Prepares closing journal entries, including accrual and reversing, for monthly financial statements.
    • Prepares input of information into general ledger system.
    • Reconciles general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
    • Reviews trial balance and financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
    • Prepares financial reports as needed.
    • Assist with capital asset tracking and reporting.
    • Supports tax compliance activities, including research, preparation, and filing of indirect state and local taxes.
    • Assists in reconciling tax-related general ledger accounts and supports audits or inquiries related to tax filings.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required (with a major in accounting).
  • 1-3 years general accounting experience. 

Preferred education and experience 

  • Good accounting skills including current knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Good analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with various levels of management throughout the organization.
  • Must be a team player. 
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task. 
  • Attention to detail.
  • Computer literate, with the ability to utilize standard software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • CPA license/CMA certificate or ability to obtain preferred.

Office Demands

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Most work requires normal physical effort.

Requires moderate use of personal computer (word processing and spreadsheets) for compiling reports, statistical data, composing memoranda and other similar documents.

The salary range is $44,000-78,000, with an anticipated salary of $78,000.  Pay will be based on several factors including the candidate’s education, work experience, work location and specific job duties. 

As part of the team, full-time employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, short term disability, employee assistance program, 401(k) with company match and discretionary funding, tuition reimbursement, supplemental parental leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave. Full-time employees will receive a minimum of 10 days’ vacation, 10 days sick, 10 days paid holidays and one floating holiday every 12 months. In addition, we offere an annual discretionary bonus (based on eligibility).
