Administrative Supervisor

Review handoff information (email or Chime) from previous shift’s admin team.Review Flash Report from previous shift.Create, monitor, and respond to open cases in FMC during pre-shift preparation and throughout shift (and cases that impact following shift). Escalate any cases impacting current shift and next shift to Duty Manager (DM).Create Truck Activity log. Conduct Pre Shift Yard Audit: Verify present loads have been checked in and match YMS status/dock door assignments.

Cargo Handling Specialist

JOB SUMMARY Inspects and receives cargo to protect the interest of Tropical and its customers.  Verifies that cargo meets Tropical’s minimum requirements for cargo acceptance.  Notifies supervisor / crew leader for problem resolution when cargo does not meet Tropical requirements.  Measures and documents the shipment’s size, type and characteristics along with complete written record of any discrepancies.  Applies proper Tropical labels according to cargo marks and paperwork and enters correct data in the warehouse management system, preparing cargo for putaway.  Operates a forklift as part of the receiving, stripping, or putaway processes.  Puts away cargo in the proper location and documents that transaction properly in the warehouse management system.JOB SCOPENo supervisory or budgetary responsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInspects cargo to ensure that cargo meets the Tropical receiving guidelines for acceptance.Receives cargo by :a.  Verifying and documenting the count.b.  Ensuring that cargo matches description on the carrier’s freight billc.  Verifying and documenting cargo condition.d.  Properly noting exceptions (discrepancies) on the delivery agent’s paperwork.e.  Checks for proper hazardous material documents.f.   Signs the delivery receipt, and accepts cargo in accordance with the receiving process.Measures cargo and enters information into the warehouse management system or on hand tally.Properly, accurately, and legibly, records all other required information on tally or in warehouse management system.Prepares cargo for putaway by verifying paperwork, and placing cargo on pallets.  Secures cargo to pallets with shrinkwrap and/or tape.Applies labels to each handling unit, in accordance with company procedures.Exhibits good customer service skills in communicating with customers, truckers, and vendors.Performs and documents pre-shift forklift inspection.Operates a forklift to unload delivery trucks and containers.Strips and transloads cargo as neededTransfers large shipments from delivery truck directly into  containers.Loads containers making sure that cargo is placed properly in containers to ensure maximum stow and damage free transit.Loads flat racks according to flat rack procedures.Ensures proper hazardous material placards are applied when hazardous cargo is loaded.Performs all other assigned duties as requested. MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE: Six (6) months Tropical warehouse experience.OSHA certified in forklift operation.LICENSE: Valid Florida drivers licenseTRAVEL: None.

Traffic Manager

JOB SUMMARY Directs, motivates, trains and supervises the daily work activities of Traffic personnel performing shipment verification processes.  Ensures compliance with legal requirements including Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) rules.  Administers resources and information exchange for Less than Container Load (LCL) shipments, including:  Ocean, Air, Satellite and Interline cargo moving through the Terminal in a timely and cost-effective manner while achieving a high level of customer and employee satisfaction.  Oversees customer contact to expedite cargo movement.EDUCATION: Associate Degree in Business or in a related field.EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years experience in the transportation industry, including a minimum of 6 months management or supervisory experience.LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License and Valid PassportTRAVEL: Local U.S. travel – 5% annually.  International travel – 1 to 2 times per year to port locations.

Dispatch Manager

JOB SUMMARY Manages all Dispatch and Trucking functions and staff including owner operators.  Plans and coordinates related services to meet company goals and objectives, and acts as liaison with Interstate Trucking.  Negotiates rates with independent contractors and third party trucking companies.  Manages dispatch system to ensure customer requirements are met and addresses issues with staff.  EDUCATION: Associates Degree in Business ManagementEXPERIENCE: Seven years experience in trucking/dispatchLICENSE: Valid Local and Commercial Driver’s Licenses, and valid passportTRAVEL: 20% travel to various Tropical locations
