Description
The Project Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules on the Antarctic Research Vessel (ARV) shipbuilding program to ensure successful and timely project completion. The role involves working closely with project manager, and other stakeholders to create realistic timelines, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions. The Project Scheduler plays a critical role in project planning, execution, and control processes and will provide inputs to TOTE Services’ Earned Value Management System (EVMS) to capture progress on all aspects of the ARV program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development and Maintenance:
- Develop a detailed Integrated Master Schedule, including individual project schedules, defining tasks, durations, dependencies, and milestones.
- Maintain and update project schedules regularly to reflect actual progress and changes in project scope or timelines.
- Schedule Monitoring and Analysis:
- Monitor the IMS and track progress against the baseline and identify any variances.
- Perform critical path analysis to identify potential delays and their impact on project completion.
- Conduct schedule risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather schedule inputs and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Communicate schedule status, updates, and risks to project teams and senior management through regular reports and meetings.
- Integration and Reporting:
- Integrate project schedules with other project management tools and systems (e.g., EVMS).
- Prepare and present detailed schedule reports, including Gantt charts, progress reports, and schedule performance metrics.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving scheduling processes and tools.
- Implement best practices in project scheduling and contribute to the development of scheduling standards and guidelines.
- Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to project scheduling.
- Participate in internal and external audits and address any findings related to scheduling practices.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in project scheduling supporting large shipbuilding activities.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
- Competent in new construction shipbuilding activities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of scheduling techniques, critical path method (CPM), and resource management.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with occasional travel to project sites as required.
- May involve extended hours during peak project phases or meeting critical deadlines.
