Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Merchandising Manager to oversee product procurement, merchandising strategy, and supply chain operations, while elevating the overall customer shopping experience across all Minit Stop convenience store locations. This Maui-based role requires frequent visits to Maui locations with occasional travel to the Big Island in accordance with the company’s travel budget guidelines.
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of supply chain and category management, along with vendor operations. Strong technical skills and proficiency with software applications are essential for making data-driven decisions to maximize sales and profitability and adapt to changing market conditions. What You Will Do
- Manage product procurement, pricing, and inventory flow to ensure consistent store supply across all Minit Stop Convenience Stores.
- Maintain and monitor price book accuracy, updates, and promotional pricing.
- Analyze sales trends and performance metrics to make data-driven decisions that improve product mix, pricing and profitability.
- Develop and execute merchandising strategies, category plans, promotional calendars, and rewards program to boost sales and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Ensure consistent product placement and compliance with store schematics and planograms.
- Build and manage vendor relationships including sourcing, negotiations, and issue resolution.
- Identify new vendors and cost-saving opportunities to maximize margins.
- Prepare and present sales, margin and forecasting analysis for budgeting and planning.
- Collaborate with Food Service and Marketing Teams on product development, promotional initiatives, and campaign execution.
- Support store layout design, remodel and merchandising improvements with Facilities team.
- Monitor and analyze market trends and sales history, adjust merchandising strategies to maintain competitiveness.
- Manage multiple projects to ensure projects are executed and meets deadlines.
- Stay current on regulations governing the business, including but not limited to SNAP (EBT), signage rules, labeling laws and Department of Health requirements.
- Support community, promotional, and charitable initiatives.
- Participate in required training programs and maintain reliable, regular attendance.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Candidates must meet the legal requirements for obtaining credentials to sell liquor and tobacco products in the state of Hawaii.
- An Associate’s degree or at least two years of relative work experience in Merchandising, Procurement, Buying, or Marketing is preferred.
- Acquire a Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance upon hire as a condition of employment.
- Safe Food Handler’s Certification, Liquor Card, and Class C Underground Storage Tank (UST) Certification are a plus. If not already obtained, must be willing to obtain these certifications within 90 days of hire.
- Proficient in data analytics and inventory management systems with the ability to quickly learn new software programs. Experience with schematic software (e.g., Blue Yonder) and PDI Technologies is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and SharePoint, with experience using Pivot Tables for data analysis.
- Exhibits strong leadership, communicates effectively and excels both independently and in team settings.
- Highly organized multitasker with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities of a structured and fast paced work environment so that deadlines are met.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle for business-related errands. We offer mileage reimbursement and cover other travel-related expenses to ensure you are compensated for your efforts.
