TOTE Resources is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused, and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join our growing team in Tacoma, Washington. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining regulatory compliance, and delivering exceptional employee support across multiple business units.

What You’ll Do

• Process accurate and timely multi-state payroll
• Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and tax documentation
• Audit and review employee timesheets for accuracy
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Partner closely with HR, Accounting, and operational teams
• Support payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end processing
• Respond to employee inquiries with professionalism and urgency
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements
• Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee data

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws and compliance requirements
• Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and customer service abilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
• Experience with ADP, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms
• Multi-state or multi-entity payroll experience
• Background in logistics, transportation, maritime, or shared services
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation

The salary range is $50,000 to $65,000 annually, with an expected target salary of $60,000 to $62,000 per year. Compensation will be based on several factors including the candidate’s education, work experience, work location, and specific job duties.
