TOTE Resources is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused, and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join our growing team in Tacoma, Washington. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining regulatory compliance, and delivering exceptional employee support across multiple business units.

What You’ll Do
- Process accurate and timely multi-state payroll
- Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and tax documentation
- Audit and review employee timesheets for accuracy
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Partner closely with HR, Accounting, and operational teams
- Support payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end processing
- Respond to employee inquiries with professionalism and urgency
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee data
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and compliance requirements
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
- Experience with ADP, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms
- Multi-state or multi-entity payroll experience
- Background in logistics, transportation, maritime, or shared services
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation
The salary range is $50,000 to $65,000 annually, with an expected target salary of $60,000 to $62,000 per year. Compensation will be based on several factors including the candidate’s education, work experience, work location, and specific job duties.
