Cargo Inspector/Jockey Driver

JOB SUMMARY Receives, tallies, and loads out cargo.  Operates jockey truck to position containers for loading and unloading and to perform door to door switches.  Maintains a professional attitude and relationship with customers, common carriers, U.S. Customs, and U.S.D.A.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-Receives and stows inbound freight with forklift.  Completes tallies and labels cargo.-Operates jockey truck to position containers for loading and unloading and to perform door to door switches.-Ensures preventative maintenance is performed on all equipment.-Makes cargo available for U.S. Customs and U.S.D.A. inspections.-Makes cargo available for pick up by consignees and common carriers.-Maintains neatness and cleanliness throughout warehouse and dock area.-Directs the work of temporary personnel, when necessary.-Coordinates transloading of cargo at other receiving areas, when necessary.-Coordinates movement and positioning of containers with Jockey Pool.-Performs all other duties as requested.EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE: Six months in warehouse operations.LICENSE: Valid Florida Driver’s License and CDL Class A with hazmat and tanker endorsements.TRAVEL: N/A.

Warehouse Person I- St. Thomas, USVI

JOB SUMMARY Check, stores and loads out trailer-load freight.  Deliver customer cargo.  Clean warehouse.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-Counts, cubes, places on pallets and stores freight.  Records on checkers tally.-Notes on tally when hazardous materials are received.-Tags freight according to marks/ports.-Operates fork-lift to load and unload freight.-Loads containers with cleared freight, making sure no additional discrepancies exist.-Performs preventative maintenance on fork-lift.-Checks and cleans equipment and warehouse/work area.-Deliver customer cargo.-Prepare trailer manifest for outbound cars.-Performs all other duties as requested.EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE: N/ALICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License.TRAVEL: N/A

Stevedore Supervisor- St. Croix, USVI

Responsible for supervising loading and unloading of all vessels, maintaining ship schedules and managing resources to complete assigned duties including interfacing with Maintenance and Traffic departments.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-Schedules, assigns and supervises work of stevedoring crews to ensure the proper stowing of freight on board vessels.  Coordinates vessel arrivals and departures to maximize employee/equipment production levels.  Ensures coverage for all areas sufficient to meet deadline requirements and avoid unnecessary costs resulting from inefficient procedures.  Uses automated stowage systems as part of the stevedoring operation.-Supervises all yard activities in and out of the port. Supervises cargo-handling equipment and stevedore team.-Develops and recommends improvements to stevedoring practices and procedures in order to promote efficiency, faster service and lower costs.  Works closely with the Control Center to set up optimal stowage and workplans. -Schedules ship movements within port area to meet loading and discharging requirements.  Ensures timely movement and staging of all stevedoring equipment in conjunction with vessel work schedules.-Monitors staff safety procedures ensuring safety equipment is utilized and safety requirements are understood.-Operates the terminal operating system (Octopi) while providing support to the stevedore team.-Compiles vessel traffic reports for Virgin Island Port Authority billing; check and verify billings.-Prepare cargo-handling schedules and work schedules. Coordinate port berthing and vessel traffic.-Participate and assist in staff performance review appraisals. Responsible for handling staff performance management issues.-Performs all other duties as assigned.E. MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE: Three years experience in stevedoring and warehouse operations with a minimum of three years supervisory experience.LICENSE: Valid local driver’s licenseTRAVEL: N/APHYSICAL: Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer.  Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 8 hours per day.  Mobility required to oversee operations activities and to perform inspection duties.  Ability to frequently twist, bend, read, squat, kneel and climb heights up to 15 feet,  occasionally must lift and carry up to 100 lbs.  Able to withstand occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.LANGUAGE: English
