Claims Manager – Seven Seas Cargo Insurance

JOB SUMMARY We are seeking an experienced and strategic Claims Manager – Marine Insurance to lead and manage the end-to-end claims process. The ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of managerial experience in marine claims, with a deep understanding of policy interpretation, litigation, recovery, and claims strategy.This is a critical leadership role focused on claims efficiency, technical accuracy, team performance, customer satisfaction, and financial control.JOB SCOPESupervises exempt positions.  Assist in the development and management of the departmental budget and financial functions of the dept. related to claims, salvage and subrogation.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Directs the investigation, review, evaluation, negotiation and preparation of settlements for Seven Seas Insurance claim submissions, including all Open Cargo Policies.· Coordinates mitigation with claimants and/or legal counsel to determine fair and equitable settlement.· Prepares and analyzes departmental reports.· Forecasts calculation and establish monitoring of the claims reserve accounts.· Performs quality reviews on claims in compliance with internal and external audits as well as all regulatory requirements, whether domestic or international.· Supervises and leads a team of adjusters handling claims and the department’s workflow.· Assists the President in determining viable markets and expanding to additional lines of business including but not limited to Hull, P&I and Marine Liabilities.· Coordinates with Cargo Loss Prevention to determine and eliminate “high risk areas” to aid in the prevention of claims.· Determine areas with high loss ratio and recommend directions to help lower risk exposure.· Performs all other assigned duties.MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: Associates Degree in Business Admnistration or in a related fieldEXPERIENCE: Seven years’ experience in Claims Management in all lines of Marine Business.LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License and Valid PassportTRAVEL: 5% travel to various local and international locations.PHYSICAL: Office Environment – Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer.  Ability to bend or stoop to retrieve lower shelf files.  Ability to reach overhead to retrieve upper shelf files.  ability to sit 1/3 – 2/3 of day.  Ability to travel in various modes of transportation (e.g. automobile, airplane, train etc.)  Occasionally exposed to outside elements during the course of traveling.LANGUAGE: English

Warehouse Crew Leader – Caribtrans

Job SummaryProvides leadership, assistance, and advice to coworkers in all areas of the warehouse operation, and serves as the trainer for new employees and newly promoted employees. Inspects and receives cargo to protect the interest of Caribtrans and its customers. Receives cargo on the main floor, UPS, Yard and Ramp. Enters correct data in the warehouse management system, preparing cargo for putaway. Operates a forklift as part of the receiving, stripping, or putaway processes. Puts away cargo in the proper location and documents that transaction properly in the warehouse management system. Attends to customers delivering at the ramp, and in the yard to ensure they are given personal attention and special assistance when needed. Loads cargo into containers, ensuring shipment integrity (no shortages or errors), blocks and braces shipments to reduce risk of damage.  Job ScopeNo supervisory or budgetary responsibility.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesInspects cargo to ensure that cargo meets the Caribtrans receiving guidelines for acceptance.  Receives cargo by : erifying and documenting the count.  Ensuring that cargo matches description on the carrier’s freight bill Verifying and documenting cargo condition.  Properly noting exceptions (discrepancies) on the delivery agent’s paperwork.  Checks for proper hazardous material documents.  Signs the delivery receipt, and accepts cargo in accordance with the receiving process.  Measures cargo and enters information into the warehouse management system or on hand tally.  Properly, accurately, and legibly, records all other required information on tally or in warehouse management system.  Prepares cargo for putaway by verifying paperwork, and placing cargo on pallets.  Secures cargo to pallets with shrinkwrap and/or tape.  Applies labels to each handling unit, in accordance with company procedures.  Exhibits good customer service skills in communicating with customers, truckers, and vendors.  Performs and documents pre-shift forklift inspection.  Operates a forklift to unload delivery trucks and containers.  Strips and transloads cargo as needed.  Transfers large shipments from delivery truck directly into containers.  Loads containers, making sure that cargo is place properly in the containers to ensure maximum stow and damage free transit.  Loads flatracks according to flat rack procedures.  Ensures proper hazardous material placards are applied when hazardous cargo is loaded.  Stages containers on twin chassis, using headhandler.  Keeps work area clean and free of all safety hazards at all times.  Serves as a leader and trainer to coworkers in all areas of the warehouse operation.  Performs all other assigned duties as requested.
