The ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of managerial experience in marine claims, with a deep understanding of policy interpretation, litigation, recovery, and claims strategy.This is a critical leadership role focused on claims efficiency, technical accuracy, team performance, customer satisfaction, and financial control.JOB SCOPESupervises exempt positions.  Assist in the development and management of the departmental budget and financial functions of the dept. related to claims, salvage and subrogation.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Directs the investigation, review, evaluation, negotiation and preparation of settlements for Seven Seas Insurance claim submissions, including all Open Cargo Policies.· Coordinates mitigation with claimants and/or legal counsel to determine fair and equitable settlement.· Prepares and analyzes departmental reports.· Forecasts calculation and establish monitoring of the claims reserve accounts.· Performs quality reviews on claims in compliance with internal and external audits as well as all regulatory requirements, whether domestic or international.· Supervises and leads a team of adjusters handling claims and the department’s workflow.· Assists the President in determining viable markets and expanding to additional lines of business including but not limited to Hull, P&I and Marine Liabilities.· Coordinates with Cargo Loss Prevention to determine and eliminate “high risk areas” to aid in the prevention of claims.· Determine areas with high loss ratio and recommend directions to help lower risk exposure.· Performs all other assigned duties.MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: Associates Degree in Business Admnistration or in a related fieldEXPERIENCE: Seven years’ experience in Claims Management in all lines of Marine Business.LICENSE: Valid Local Driver’s License and Valid PassportTRAVEL: 5% travel to various local and international locations.PHYSICAL: Office Environment – Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer.  Ability to bend or stoop to retrieve lower shelf files.  Ability to reach overhead to retrieve upper shelf files.  ability to sit 1/3 – 2/3 of day.  Ability to travel in various modes of transportation (e.g. automobile, airplane, train etc.)  Occasionally exposed to outside elements during the course of traveling.LANGUAGE: English
