Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Articulated Tug Barge (ATB) Chief Engineer to assume command of the engineering department of LNG ATB. The ATB Chief Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the overall engineering department of the ATB unit, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, and working with a team of maritime professionals. The ideal candidate will have extensive maritime experience, excellent engineering skills, strong LNG bunkering capabilities and a strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • The Chief Engineer ensures the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all machinery, associated systems, and spaces.
  • Aid in the navigation of the tug and barge as required. 
  • Adhere to policies and procedures in the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Report unsafe situations, conditions, or opportunities for improvement.
  • On joining the vessel, liaise with off-going engineers to become familiar with machinery and equipment and current operational status.
  • Properly turn over duties to relief at each watch change and crew change
  • Coordinate closely with the Vessel Captain and crew on maintenance scheduling, 
  • Maintain accurate and complete Engine Log, Oil Record Book, and maintenance and repair records.
  • Facilitate monthly fuel and lube oil reporting requirements, including collecting fuel oil samples, and making entries in Bunker Log
  • Lead the use and transfer of fuel oil, lube oil, waste oil and oily waste, and potable and ballast water.
  • Monitor the quality and condition of spare parts and engineering supplies and maintain inventories of adequate spare parts and tools.
  • Create and maintain a maintenance plan using NSE software. 
  • Able to PIC LNG Bunkering or loading operations if required. 
  • Have strong leadership skills and lead the maintenance department. Must be able to effectively manage a two-person engineering team. 

 

Qualifications

  • Chief Engineer (limited) with 5+ years’ experience desired. ATB experience preferable 
  • Current Medical Certificate
  • Valid passport
  • Valid TWIC
  • Ability to work safely and navigate in a marine setting; walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time; frequently reach with hands and arms; frequently crouch or stoop; climb/descend stairs and ladders; occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds; occasionally enter and work in confined spaces; travel a minimum of 50% of the year; withstand exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, rain, cold and or/humidity
  • LG Tankerman PIC or LG Tankerman PIC (Barge) Preferred.
  • LG Tankerman Assistant Preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of LNG liquefaction, shipping, vaporization, or power plant operations, typically gained through considerable related work experience.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with state and federal tank barge operations, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communications skills.
