Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mission Specialist to join our Offshore Petroleum Distribution System (OPDS) team. The OPDS is designed to deploy, operate, and redeploy systems capable of delivering fuel from tankers or barges to designated beach sites or to fuel barges, lighterage, or piers from up to eight miles offshore. This role is essential for supporting the US Navy Prepositioning Program. The successful candidate will be part of a specialized team responsible for handling, stowage, maintenance, repair, deployment, and recovery of the high-pressure static flow steel flexible pipeline and its attendant equipment.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Operate and manage the deployment, operation, and recovery of the OPDS, ensuring efficient and safe fuel delivery to designated locations.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and repair of pipeline and hydraulic systems and equipment to ensure operational readiness and reliability.
  • Collaborate with commercial mariners and other OPDS Mission Specialists to perform customary shipboard duties and specialized tasks related to the OPDS.
  • Participate in training and drills to maintain high levels of proficiency in OPDS operations and emergency response procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards during fuel transfer operations and pipeline maintenance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of operational plans and strategies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the OPDS.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the team and stakeholders regarding OPDS capabilities and limitations.
  • Document operational activities, incidents, and maintenance actions in accordance with organizational policies, regulatory, and customer requirements. 

 Supervisory Responsibilities: None. 

 Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent. One to three years’ experience conducting machinery maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Training in handling, stowage, maintenance, repair, deployment, and recovery of high-pressure static flow steel flexible pipelines and related equipment.
  • Proven experience in offshore operations, preferably with a focus on fuel distribution systems or similar maritime logistics operations.
  • Strong understanding of maritime safety regulations, environmental protection standards, and best practices in fuel transfer operations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with diverse professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions and operational challenges.
  • Mechanically skilled with the ability to work on vehicles and hydraulic systems that support the OPDS. 
  • Willingness to work in various offshore locations and under potentially harsh weather conditions.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding tasks in a maritime environment.
